What does Remove EXIF do?

Every photo taken on a smartphone or DSLR contains hidden metadata including GPS coordinates, device model, serial number, and timestamps. PixelForge's EXIF remover strips all metadata from your images in bulk before you upload them online, protecting your privacy.

Use cases

  • Removing GPS coordinates before posting photos online
  • Stripping camera and device information for privacy
  • Reducing file size by eliminating unnecessary metadata
  • Preparing images for public sharing without revealing personal information

Example

Strip all EXIF data from 100 travel photos before uploading to Instagram

Frequently asked questions

What data does EXIF contain?

EXIF metadata can include GPS coordinates (your exact location when the photo was taken), camera make and model, lens information, exposure settings, timestamp, copyright, and even device serial numbers.

Does removing EXIF change the image quality?

No. EXIF data is stored separately from image pixel data. Stripping it does not affect the visual quality of your images, only reduces file size slightly.

Do social media platforms strip EXIF automatically?

Most platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) strip EXIF on upload, but not all. Some platforms preserve it, and once metadata is on their servers it may be accessible. Strip it before uploading to be safe.

Can I remove EXIF from RAW files?

PixelForge processes JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, and AVIF files. Camera RAW files (.raw, .cr2, .nef) are not currently supported.
