Larger block sizes create a more coarse, mosaic-like effect. Smaller values preserve more detail.

What this tool does

Pixelation creates a mosaic of enlarged pixel blocks — useful for anonymizing sensitive content (faces, license plates, personal information), creating retro 8-bit aesthetics, or blurring portions of images for privacy. PixelForge applies the pixelate effect to your entire batch in one pass. Adjust the block size to control how coarse the pixelation appears.

Problems it solves

  • Anonymizing faces or license plates in photos before publishing
  • Creating retro pixel art effects from photographs
  • Blurring sensitive documents or personal information in screenshots
  • Generating low-resolution thumbnail placeholders for lazy-loaded galleries

Example

Pixelate 50 event photos to anonymize attendees before social media posting

Frequently asked questions

What does the block size setting control?

Block size controls how large each pixel block is. A block size of 10 means each output 'pixel' is a 10×10 square of the original pixels averaged together. Larger values = coarser pixelation. Smaller values = finer pixelation with more detail preserved.

Is pixelation reversible?

No — pixelation is a lossy, destructive operation. Original pixel data is discarded. It is not possible to recover the original image from a pixelated version.

Can I pixelate just part of an image?

PixelForge applies pixelation to the entire image. For selective pixelation (just a face or license plate), you would need specialized photo editing software.

Is this a Pro feature?

Yes — pixelation is available on Pro and Business plans.
