Will converting WebP to JPEG reduce quality?

JPEG is a lossy format, so some quality is lost when saving. PixelForge uses a quality setting of 90 by default, which is visually lossless for most images. Avoid converting between lossy formats repeatedly — each round trip degrades quality slightly.

Why can't I open WebP images in some programs?

Older versions of Photoshop (before 23.2), Microsoft Office, and many photo editing apps don't support WebP natively. Converting to JPEG gives you a universally compatible file that works everywhere.

What happens to WebP transparency when converting to JPEG?

JPEG doesn't support transparency. Transparent areas in WebP files are filled with a white background. To choose a different background color, use the Flatten Transparency tool first.
