What does Bulk Rename do?

Stop renaming image files one by one. PixelForge's bulk image renamer lets you apply consistent naming conventions to hundreds of files using customizable patterns. Use variables like {basename}, {index}, {width}, {height}, and {ext} to create descriptive, organized filenames automatically.

Use cases

  • Renaming a batch of IMG_001.jpg files to descriptive names
  • Adding sequential numbers to a set of product images
  • Normalizing inconsistent filenames before uploading to a CMS
  • Renaming images with their dimensions in the filename

Example

Rename 100 product photos to product-001.jpg, product-002.jpg...

Frequently asked questions

What pattern variables can I use?

Available variables: {basename} (original filename without extension), {index} (sequential number), {width} (image width in pixels), {height} (image height in pixels), {ext} (file extension). Example: {basename}-{width}x{height} → photo-1920x1080.jpg

What does padLength do?

padLength controls zero-padding for {index}. A padLength of 3 produces 001, 002, 003. This ensures files sort correctly in file explorers when you have more than 9 files.

Will renaming change the image content?

No. Renaming only changes the filename. Image content, quality, and metadata are unchanged.

Is this a Pro feature?

Yes — bulk renaming is available on Pro and Business plans.
